I’m Thom Gardner, Bend Oregon real estate buyer’s agent.  But I’m also a 32 year resident of Bend, Oregon, the 51 year old father of a 19 year old daughter, who was born in Bend, writer of several novels, rabid traveler, adventurer, and local recreational junkie.  And yes, the Managing Principal Broker of Bend Brokers Realty, Bend Oregon’s most experienced true Buyer’s agent.  Since 2007 I’ve worked in a family owned Bend Oregon real estate brokerage that has been in business since 2002, allowing me to think and speak independently. That is much harder to do in a corporate brokerage, where one is often required to tow an official line.

After graduating from the University or Oregon, I raised a family here.  I’ve explored about every possible kind of Bend-style recreation to be had. We love to attend the concerts and events we have in Bend all Summer long. Floating the river, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, wakeboarding and water skiing, dirt biking, camping in our Airstream in the Oregon Outback, swimming in the high Cascade Lakes with my daughter, Maya, are my passions here.

An avid outdoorsman, I love both the adventures to be had in the Cascades, including mountaineering, as well as the wide open spaces and opportunities to be alone in the great deserts to the east in the Oregon Outback. Winter is often when we travel, mostly to warm beach locales in Mexico, Central America, and South America, in search of cultural experiences, recreational adventures, and a chance to put back on the shorts and flip flops! Currently I own beach property in Costa Rica, and plan to build this year (feel free to ask me about that experience as well, it’s extremely different!).

It’s true, I do only represent Bend home buyers.  However, my experienced listing broker, Shanda Kenyon, works under me to preserve the integrity of the purchase and sale process for all of my previous and current clients. I don’t chase listings, I can’t be hired to list by anyone else, and in this way I stay focused on the buy side of the equation.

My specialty is as a pure buyer’s agent in Bend Oregon real estate deals, period, and I believe in providing my clients the unvarnished truth. Telling it like it is, I often win the trust of my clients when I tell them NOT to buy a property that I believe is a bad deal, or a bad situation. Why hire a generalist, who chases listings, has their mind only half in the Bend home buying process, and who has to follow a script about Bend real estate?

Independence works for YOU.  The needs of the Bend Oregon home buyer are my sole focus as your Bend Oregon real estate agent.  Since 2009, in fact, I’ve worked with only Bend home buyers.  Right through the housing bust and back out the other side, into today’s explosively booming market. Living in the area since 1990, I know the neighborhoods, areas of town, and Bend real estate itself better than most Bend real estate agents, many of whom moved here very recently.

My job is to provide you local expertise that will have you not only happy in your home, but in a position that I believe bodes well for the future, in terms of both resalability, and possible appreciation.
