I’m Thom Gardner,  50 year old father of an 18 year old daughter,  writer of several novels,  rabid traveler and adventurer,  local recreational junkie, and the Managing Principal Broker of Bend Brokers Realty, and Bend Oregon’s most experienced true Buyer’s agent. Since 2007 I’ve worked in a family based, Bend Oregon real estate brokerage that has been in business since 2002 and allows me to think and speak independently, which I would be unable to do in a large brokerage, where one is often required to follow a script.

I’ve lived in Bend for 31 years, and graduated from the University of Oregon. I’ve raised a family here, and explored about every possible kind of Bend-style recreation to be had. I love to attend the concerts and events we have in Bend all Summer long, float the river, hike, mountain bike, kayak, wakeboard and water ski, dirt bike, camp in our brokerage’s Airstream trailer in the outback, and most especially to swim in the high Cascade Lakes with my daughter, Maya, a born mermaid. I’m an avid outdoorsman, and love both the adventures to be had in the Cascades, as well as the wide open spaces and opportunities to be alone in the great deserts to the east in the Oregon Outback. I travel widely in Winter, mostly to warm beach locales in Mexico, Central America, and South America, in search of both cultural experiences, recreational adventures, and a chance to put back on the shorts and flip flops of Summer!

I only deal with Bend home buyers, though I do have a fantastic and experienced listing broker, Shanda Kenyon, who works alongside me in my brokerage in order to preserve the integrity of the purchase and sale process for all of my previous and current clients. I don’t chase listings, I can’t be hired to list by anyone else, and in this way I stay focused on the buy side of the equation.

My specialty is as a pure buyer’s agent in Bend Oregon real estate deals, period. Why hire someone who is a generalist, chasing listings, who has their mind half in and half out of the Bend home buying process, and who has to follow a script about Bend real estate? I tell it like it is, and often win the trust of my clients when I tell them NOT to buy a property that I believe is a bad deal, or a bad situation. My job is to reveal to you the local expertise that will have you not only happy in a home you like, but in a position that I believe bodes well for the future of your purchase, in terms of both resalability, and possible appreciation.

Independence works for YOU. My focus is solely on the needs of the Bend Oregon home buyer as a Bend Oregon real estate agent, and I’ve worked with only Bend home buyers from 2009 on, through the housing bust and back out the other side into today’s explosively booming market. I’ve lived in the area since 1990, and know neighborhoods, the area, and Bend real estate better than the majority of Bend real estate agents, many of whom moved here very recently.
